"Relationship changes between beauty and the beast. "
- Throughout Angela Carter’s writing the Beauty can be seen as representation of women and the Beast as representation of men.
- Starting from the beginning of the story, Beauty is described as “light of its own '', which is interesting since the description of the girl can be seen as a connection to the first appearance of the Beast in moonlight.
- In the novel, Beast and Beauty occured to be alone in the same room sharing conversations. Then at one point, silence was present, the Beast threw himself on Beauty’s feet and laid his head in her lap, while the girl noticed he was kissing her hands. While viewing the act of kissing the hands with good intentions (which in this case probably is) one can view the Beast as appropriate and positive company for Beauty.
- It happens through the interaction of Beauty and the Beast that both grow and change.
